I had my permanent makeup done a little over six years ago, just before my 21st birthday. I was tired of taking so much time doing makeup and loved the idea of not having to deal with it anymore. I researched several different places and finally made my decision. I had my eyebrows darkened as well as my top eyeliner done. There are other cosmetics you can get done as well such as blush, lip color, lip liner, etc. To this day, I don’t regret my decision one bit.
Many others have permanent cosmetics done for other reasons. Some women get it done because they have trouble putting on makeup due to farsightedness or they’re very active and are tired of their makeup running down their faces. Whatever the reason, if you’re interested in getting permanent cosmetics done, you need to consider a few things.
Things To Consider
First of all, permanent makeup is permanent. You really need to make sure that it’s something you want. Once it’s done, though shades and shapes might be altered a bit depending on the skill of the technician doing your makeup, you’re pretty much stuck with it. If you occasionally like to wear eyeliner and sometimes don’t . . . It might be best to not get it done. Once it’s on, you can’t wash it off whenever you feel like it. If you have any doubts about not liking your permanent makeup five years from now, you probably should steer clear of the procedure.
You also don’t want to go overboard with your permanent makeup. Makeup fads change a lot. Keep that in mind before you decide on dark colors, especially if you’re extremely fair. Stick with more “natural” type colors that enhance your face. If you think your makeup won’t be “in” five years down the line, you might want to go with a more subtle look.
Most important of all, research. Don’t pick the first person you come across. Choose at least three different permanent cosmetic places to check out before making your decision. Have a list of questions to ask them. Where did they learn how to do permanent cosmetics? How many of their clients have been unhappy with their procedure? Do they have permanent cosmetics? Be wary if they don’t. It’s like having a tattoo done by someone who doesn’t have even one. It’s more then a little odd. All the technicians I have come across have some type of permanent cosmetics done on themselves because they believe in their work. Ask for pictures of their work. Ask for references. If they don’t have either, you should probably avoid them.
Permanent cosmetics can be a great thing for the right people. It’s not for everyone. For those that do believe permanent makeup is for them, make sure to consider all aspects of it carefully. It is a type of tattooing and it is permanent. Like any other procedure, you want to get as much information about the subject as possible.
